Baba Rahman set to leave Chelsea for Greek Club on free transfer

Rahman Baba’s tenure at Chelsea has reached its conclusion, as reports suggest that his contract has been mutually terminated by the Premier League club.
The Ghanaian left-back is now poised to join PAOK Thessaloniki, a Greek club, on a free transfer. He has agreed to a two-year contract that will bind him to the club until 2025.
Baba’s departure from Chelsea signifies the end of a challenging period for the player, who struggled to secure a regular spot in the first team since his arrival at the club in 2015.
Conversely, PAOK views Baba as a valuable addition to their roster. The 29-year-old had a stint with PAOK during the latter half of the 2020/21 season and contributed to the club’s victory in the Greek Cup.
PAOK hopes that Rahman will make a significant impact and bolster their defensive options as they aspire to compete in both domestic and European competitions.
Rahman initially joined Chelsea from the German side Augsburg in 2015, for an undisclosed fee. It was reported to be around £14 million initially, with a potential increase to nearly £22 million. However, he had limited opportunities with the club, appearing in only 23 games.
Over the past six seasons, he has been loaned out to various clubs, including Schalke 04, Stade Reims, and Reading, where he has spent the previous two seasons.
