Jackline Oparebea from Amansie Central District emerges as winner of Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge

Jacobu Roman Catholic JHS student, Jackline Oparebea Larbi (Form 3 student) has emerged as the winner of the Otumfuo Community Reading Challenge (OCRC).

The JHS 3 student has wailed the flag of Amansie Central District high after performing marvelously at the “King’s” education-initiated programme.

The event took place on the 4th day of April 2024. This event is part of the celebration of Otumfuo’s “Silver Jubilee” edition celebration.

Winning this challenge has qualified (District Qualifiers) her district, Amansie Central District- Jacobu to participate in the OCRC Championship in Kumasi.

Jackline has received GH¢ 500.00 as a cash prize (award package) from the Konahene Special Award in preparation for the main contest. She also received an item, a brand-new rice cooker from the Amansie Central District Director of Education, Nana Pokuaah Amoako for the spectacular performance put up.

Also, her school, Jacobu R/C JHS received GH¢ 500.00 from the Tredehene Special Award for the great work done.

After the victory, Jackline was interviewed and she disclosed that her trainer and teachers encouraged her to continue the contest after the first round making her deal with the fear and crowd that were eating her up initially.

Acknowledging the obstacles she faced and appreciating the good work of the entire challenge, Jackline said
“The only problem I encountered was the Twi segment, but since I have understood the rules governing the contest, I am going to read widely and correct all the lapses I made to get prepared for the ultimate challenge.
A very big thanks to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and his Foundation for such an opportunity. I am also grateful to the Amansie Central Education Directorate for their support,” she added.

Expressing her appreciation to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Otumfuo Foundation, she voiced that
“May his Silver Jubilee anniversary celebration be a success. May he continue to reign forever so that we can continue to benefit from his leadership”.

Jackline also thanked the foundation for creating the opportunity given to the Amansie Central to partake in the championship.
