Jewel Starfish Foundation supports 60 students of Lilongwe Girls SHS with over $10,000

The Country coordinator and Director of Jewel Starfish Foundation, Vera Kamtukzle has disclosed that, the foundation supports 60 students of Lilongwe Girls Secondary School with over $10,000.

She explained that, the Jewel Starfish Foundation established by H.E Dr. Jewel Taylor the Vice President of Liberia has been supporting students with their education at the school since 2021.

So far the foundation has supported 60 students with over $10,000 that has covered their school fees, uniforms and other expenses for the girls to be in school.

Further to this the foundation also provided $5,000.00 support for rehabilitation of the clothing and textiles class, restoring cupboards, curtains and the purchase of 9 new machines in addition to the 4 electric machines she personally donated.

Vera Kamtukzle said, this class is so dear to her because it is an opportunity for our students to learn a skill, before tertiary education.

According to her, the school further reports that they have 100% pass rate in the tailoring and textiles class.

In her statements, she empathized the point that the students should count themselves blessed to be part of the scholarship. The best thank you they could ever give is to work hard and become the best at what they have been given.

She also told the girls it is emparative that they know who they are, because it is the definition of who they are that will determine where they should be and how to get there.

“Who you are will help you set yourself up for the place you need to be. And that’s the goal. And the Goal, never changes. I am also pleased to state that as Jewel Star fish foundation we are supporting twenty girls in this new cohort. I have also pledged that as Patch Malawi we will also be supporting five students from the school.” She said.
