Victoria Osteen grew up in a local congregation of Christ, a somewhat conservative congregation where her mother, Georgine Iloff, taught Sunday school and her father was a deacon.
She studied psychology at the University of Houston (though she did not graduate) while working at her mother’s jewelry company. In 1985, she met Joel Osteen while working in a jewelry store when he walked in to get a new watch battery.
