The Member of Parliament for the Adansi Asokwa constituency, K.T Hammond has been appointed Minister-designate for Trade and Industry by President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
This information was revealed by the Speaker of Parliament in the legislative house. According to him, President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo has written to him about the new appointment to the Trade Ministry.
Following this announcement, it is expected that K. T Hammond will be vetted by the appointments committee of Parliament before he can resume office as the man in charge of the Trade Ministry.
BACKGROUND
It could be recalled that Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen who was the Minister for Trade resigned through a letter to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
The Minister resigned from the Akufo-Addo government, after serving in the portfolio since 2017, it is believed that he took the decision to enable him properly focus on his presidential ambition.
