KNB Scholarship Background

Beasiswa Kemitraan Negara Berkembang, popularly known as KNB Scholarship, is a prestigious scholarship program offered by the government of the Republic of Indonesia to selected applicants originating from developing countries. Managed by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, the scholarship has been disbursed since 2006 to 1,608 recipients from 97 countries.

The role of KNB Scholarship has been central in supporting Indonesian higher education institutions in their endeavor for internationalization. The number of international students is indicative of the global visibility of higher education institutions. In support of Indonesian universities’ internationalization and to accommodate the increasing interest from applicants all around the world, the number of scholarships being awarded every year has continued to grow.

The scholarship has also been continuing to expand its partnership with reputable public and private universities in the country. In doing so, the scholarship has been sustaining the quality improvement of Indonesian higher education institutions in order to meet the standards of internationally reputable universities.

KNB Scholarship Application Start Date: 2024/2025 Academic Year

Applications for the KNB Scholarship Year 2024/2025 begin on 22nd January to 23rd February 2024 for Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral Degrees.

Indonesian Language Course (Preparatory Program, Maximum 12 months)
Master Program: Maximum 24 months (4 semesters)
Bachelor Program: Maximum 48 months (8 semesters)
PhD Program: Maximum 36 months (6semesters)

Application Information

General Procedures

How to Apply for Indonesian Government KNB Scholarships

1. A Scan Copy of Passport or ID Page/Citizenship ID.

2. A Scan Copy of Academic/Degree certificate(s) or High School certificate WASSCE (As applicable)

3. A Scan Copy of Academic Transcript(s) or High School results (as applicable)

4. A Letter of Recommendation from an Indonesian Embassy/Consulate General of Indonesia.

5. A Letter of Recommendation from the Employer/Immediate Supervisor

6. A Scan Copy of Police and Medical Reports

7. A Letter of Academic Recommendation from previous schools

8. A Scan Copy of Your Testimonial or Attestation letter from Previous School

9. English Proficiency letter from your previous School or (IBT TOEFL of 80 / IELTS of 6.0 / TOEIC of 700).

Bachelor Degree

1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 21 years old.

2. Hold a High School certificate or Diploma Certificate (please provide the scanned certificate and academic transcripts in English).

3. Have the English Proficiency letter or Test Score as follows: TOEFL ITP of 477, IBT TOEFL of 53, IELTS of 5.5, TOEIC of 510 (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years).

4. Provide the recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General to apply for the KNB scholarship.

5. Provide recommendation letter from the employer/immediate supervisor (in English) to apply for the KNB scholarship.

6. Provide Academic Recommendation Letters from previous schools (in English).

7. Proof of citizenship (Official Passport or Personal ID).

8. Complete the online application form; https://knb.kemdikbud.go.id

Master Degree

1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 35 years old.

2. Hold a bachelor’s degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English).

Please be advised that a master’s degree holder is not eligible to apply for the master’s degree scholarship.

3. Have the English Proficiency letter or Test Score as follows: TOEFL ITP of 477, IBT TOEFL of 53, IELTS of 5.5, TOEIC of 510 (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years).

4. Provide the recommendation letter from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General to apply for the KNB scholarship.

5. Provide recommendation letter from the employer/immediate supervisor (in English) to apply for the KNB scholarship.

6. Provide Academic Recommendation Letter from previous schools (in English).

7. Proof of citizenship (Official Passport or Personal ID).

Doctorate Degree/PhD

1. The maximum age to apply for the scholarship is 40 years old.

2. Hold a master’s degree (please provide the scanned degree certificate and academic transcripts in English).

Please be advised that a Doctorate degree holder is not eligible to apply.

3. Obtain a recommendation letter from the potential research supervisor in one of the universities providing a partner of the KNB Scholarship.

4. Provide a statement of purpose that at least states the purpose of their studies, the origin of their interests in studying in Indonesia and pursuing their chose research topic, and their plans for the academic future and dissertation proposal (in English).

5. Have the English Proficiency letter or Test Score as follows: TOEFL ITP of 477, IBT TOEFL of 53, IELTS of 5.5, TOEIC of 510 (the certificate must be obtained within the last 2 Years).

6. Provide the recommendation letter to apply for the KNB scholarship from the Indonesian Embassy or the Indonesian Consulate General.

7. Attach a letter of recommendation for the KNB Scholarship application from the employer/direct supervisor (in English)

8. Proof of citizenship (Official Passport or Personal ID).

9. Attach a letter of recommendation from previous universities (in English).

N.B

Please all applicants applying for the KNB Scholarship should submit their necessary documents to the High Court for legalization and submit the legalized
documents to the Ghana Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a signed cover letter. Forward the cover letter, including other required documents to the email below for your recommendation letter from the Republic of Indonesian Embassy before applying for the KNB SCHOLARSHIP.
