Ghanaian musician Kofi Kinaata, known for his hit songs “Susuka” and “Things Fall Apart”, recently shared a touching story from his childhood.
In an interview, Kinaata recounted how his class 4 teacher used to cry multiple times because of his troublesome and truant behavior.
However, one day, she took him out to see a beautiful building in their neighborhood and asked him if he would like to build a house like that someday.
Kinaata answered in the affirmative, and his teacher went on to explain that the owner of the house was obedient, paid attention in class, never worried his teacher, never fought in class, and was very smart.
She then showed Kinaata a dirty house in their neighborhood that belonged to a notorious person and asked him which of the two houses he would like to build in the future.
Despite the contrasting conditions of the two houses, Kinaata still answered that he wanted to build a house like the first one.
His teacher then explained that the person who lived in the beautiful house had also behaved like Kinaata when he was his age, but had since changed his ways and become successful by taking everything his teacher taught him seriously.
Kinaata revealed that this advice changed his perspective on a lot of things and helped him to become the successful musician he is today.
He added that he wanted to use his platform to inspire young people to take their education seriously and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
