Krachi-East: Dzunu Jonathan leads NADMO to Strengthen Partnership with Churches to Enhance Disaster Preparedness

In a bid to enhance disaster prevention, preparedness, and response, the Krachi-East Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Dzunu Jonathan, has emphasized the importance of strong stakeholder engagement and teamwork in building resilient communities. One key stakeholder identified in this effort is the church, whose role in community development and humanitarian support remains significant.

NADMO acknowledges the immense contribution of churches over the years in shaping communities, the nation, and the world at large. In times of disaster, churches often serve as places of refuge, providing shelter for displaced persons and, in many instances, supporting relief efforts through the distribution of essential items to affected individuals and families.

Recognizing this critical role, NADMO considers the church a vital partner in its mandate to prevent, respond to, and manage disasters, as well as to build resilience within communities. By strengthening collaboration with the church, NADMO seeks not only to ensure a coordinated approach to disaster management but also to leverage the church’s wide influence and reach at the grassroots level.

As part of this initiative, Mr. Dzunu Jonathan led a team from the organization to pay a courtesy call on the leadership of the Local Council of Churches in the Krachi-East Municipality. The visit was to formally introduce the municipal NADMO team and to seek the support and cooperation of the church in disaster preparedness and response activities.

During the engagement, Mr. Dzunu expressed gratitude to the church for its continuous prayers and good works within the municipality. He particularly requested permission to use church facilities as temporary shelters in the event of emergencies or displacement of persons. He also called on the church to stand in prayer against disasters in the Krachi-East Municipality and the country as a whole.

The meeting was described as successful, with both NADMO and the Local Council of Churches agreeing to work hand-in-hand to ensure the safety and well-being of residents in the municipality. The church leadership welcomed the initiative and pledged their readiness to support NADMO’s efforts.

Mr. Dzunu reaffirmed his commitment to building strong stakeholder engagement and fostering a heightened spirit of teamwork among all relevant institutions. According to him, sustained collaboration remains key to achieving a disaster-free Krachi-East Municipality and ensuring a safe environment for all residents.
