Kristin Dawn Chenoweth is an American singer and actress who has appeared in musical theater, film, and television.
She earned a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical in 1999 for her role as Sally Brown in Broadway’s You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Chenoweth received a second Tony Award nomination in 2003 for her performance as Glinda in the musical Wicked.
Her television credits include Annabeth Schott on NBC’s The West Wing and Olive Snook on ABC’s comedy-drama Pushing Daisies, for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award in 2009 for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
She also appeared in the ABC TV series GCB in 2012, Trial & Error in 2018, and the Apple TV+ musical comedy Schmigadoon! in 2021 and 2023, as Mildred Layton and Miss Codwell, respectively.
She grew up singing gospel music in Oklahoma and studying opera before deciding to pursue a career in musical theater.
She made her Broadway debut in Steel Pier in 1997, winning a Theatre World Award, before moving on to You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, and Wicked.
Her other Broadway credits include The Apple Tree in 2006, Promises, Promises in 2010, and On the Twentieth Century in 2015, for which she received another Tony Award nomination.
