Amidst the economic turmoil and global financial crisis, Finance Minister and Chancellor to the Prime Minister for the United Kingdom, Kwasi Kwarteng has been relieved of his duties on Friday, October 14th 2022 following his appointment not so long ago.
The news of his dismissal has made headlines after few hours of issuance and received several comments from citizens and political figures of the United Kingdom especially because of how short his term in office lasted.
In a release signed by Kwasi Kwarteng himself, a message of acceptance has been sent to the Prime Minister.
In his statement, Kwasi Kwarteng wrote “The economic environment has grown rapidly since we set out on the Growth Plan on 23rd September. In response, together with the Bank of England and excellent officials at the Treasury, we have responded to those events and I commend my officials for their dedication. It is important now as we move forward to emphasize your government’s commitment to Fiscal Development. The Medium term Fiscal Plan is crucial to this end and I look forward to supporting you and my successor to achieve that from the back-benches”.
Ending his statement, Kwasi Kwarteng emphasized that his ‘friendship’ with the Prime Minister remains unchanged despite this decision and that the success of the country is paramount.
