The Accra Zoo in the Greater Accra region under the Forestry Commission of Ghana has recorded an incident of death at the facility after a middle aged man allegedly sneaked into the premises and landed in the lion’s enclosure.
The sad incident took place in the early hours of Sunday 28th August, 2022 at the zoo and was discovered when the officials of the zoo went on their routine patrol of the premises.
According to reports, the man, whose name or motive is yet to be revealed, jumped the fence and entered the zoo but subsequently landed in the Lion’s enclosure. The man was then attacked by one of the lions and sustained severe injuries leading to his death.
The authorities of the Zoo have coaxed the lion to keep it under control and the dead body has been conveyed to the morgue by the Police.
The forestry commission in collaborating with the Ghana Police Service have commenced investigations into the incident and urges all Ghanaians to stay calm.
