Meet Ghana’s new IGP COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, a highly respected leader in Ghana’s law enforcement community as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
Before he, COP Yohuno’s new appointment, he saw serving as the Deputy IGP in charge of Operations under Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Experience of IGP COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno
COP Yohuno has over forty (40) years experience in the Ghana Police Service. Renowned for his efficiency, integrity, and unwavering commitment to public safety, COP Yohuno has played a pivotal role in strengthening law enforcement in Ghana.
Key Milestones in His Career
From 2007 – 2009: He Served as Accra Central Divisional Commander, effectively managing complex policing challenges with professionalism and calm leadership.
In 2011: He was honoured with the Grand Medal, one of Ghana’s highest civilian awards, in recognition of his outstanding efforts in combating armed robbery and violent crime.
In 2012: COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno now IGP was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), marking his rise in law enforcement leadership.
In 2015: He served as the Director-General of the Motor Traffic and Transport Directorate (MTTD), spearheaded key reforms that led to a significant reduction in road accidents.
In 2016: He was elevated to Commissioner of Police (COP), where he continued his impact as Director-General for Special Duties and Administration.
On July 17, 2024: He was appointed Deputy IGP for Operations, positioning him at the forefront of critical national security operations.
