MoTAI, GIZ Engage Stakeholders on Private Sector and Innovation Programme

The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MoTAI) has convened a high-level stakeholder meeting to introduce and deliberate on the Private Sector and Innovation Promotion (PSinno) Programme, which aims to strengthen Ghana’s economic development through innovation and strategic collaboration.

The meeting, held at the Ministry on Wednesday, 25th March 2026, brought together key public and private sector stakeholders and was led by Ms. Arlett Stankovic, Programme Manager at GIZ. It was chaired by Ms. Cynthia Djokoto, Director of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) at MoTAI.

The session featured an interactive session in which participants were grouped into three thematic marketplace boards: Business Environment, Agribusiness, and Digital Economy. Each group presented key focus areas, challenges, and opportunities within their sectors. Directors from MoTAI, alongside representatives from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), highlighted ongoing initiatives and outlined strategic priorities to drive growth and competitiveness.

The PSinno Programme is commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in partnership with the Government of Ghana. The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry serves as the main implementing partner.

Mr. John Duti, Team Leader for ‘Invest for Jobs’ at GIZ, revealed that the programme seeks to promote competitive, employment-driven economic development, especially in selected sectors across the country, with a strong focus on northern Ghana. It aims to leverage innovation within agribusiness and the digital economy to generate income and employment opportunities.

He said the stakeholder meeting forms part of efforts to align the programme’s objectives with national priorities while fostering inclusive and sustainable economic growth.
