President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated that, his New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has cleared teachers salary arrears since coming into office.
According to the President, since coming into office five years ago, his government has been committed to teachers welfare and has addressed many challenges affecting teachers and also introduced new interventions for teachers across the Country.
He again said, his able government has worked on promotions due teachers among many issues.
Speaking at the 6th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) held at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, President Akufo-Addo said, in addition to the yearly average increase in salaries over the last five (5) years, his government is, for the first time in our nation’s history, paying a professional allowance to teachers.
He also added that, he has abolished the three (3) months’ pay policy for teachers, we have cleared the arrears, and promotions due teachers have also been effected.
