Madina MP announces Service Above Self Best Teachers Awards Scheme

The Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency Lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu has announced Service Above Self Best Teachers Awards Scheme for teachers within his Constituency.

The first time Member of Parliament for the area is committed to Teacher Motivation in Madina to improve quality of teaching and learning.

In a statement, Mr. Sosu noted that, according to Colleen Wilcox, “teaching is the greatest act of optimism” and he perfectly agree and would say it is the greatest exercise of faith in human existence and transformation.

He believes that, in the face of hopelessness, laziness, misbehavior, and lack of seriousness in students, extraordinary teachers, in patience continue to believe in the future of these students.

The MP added that, teachers see the light at the end of the tunnel and they lead step by step to our future. “Our Teachers shape us and leave a lasting mark.”

According to him, teachers deserve the highest honor in our Society and that is why the Office of the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency with support from various partners is organizing the SERVICE ABOVE SELF BEST TEACHER AWARDS.

Categories of Teachers to be Licensed by National Teaching Council

The Programme is scheduled for Friday, 7th January, 2022 at 2pm promt at the House of Miracle Church Auditorium as they honor teachers and other deserving individuals who have contributed to Education in the La-Nkwantanang Madina Municipality.

REPORT ON SELECTION COMMITTEE

On 3rd January, 2022, the final report of the Selection Committee on the Service Above Self Best Teacher Awards in Madina Constituency was presented to MP.

The MP disclosed that, a total of 30 applications were considered and 14 teachers were shortlisted and taken through rigorous processes of engagements for the overall Best Teacher to be determined. In all 14 Teachers will be Awarded together with 26 other distinguished persons including long service Awards and Volunteer Awards.

GES update on taxation of Teachers Professional Development Allowance

Lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu explained that, his office has carefully considered the report and the recommendations and feel very satisfied with the work of these highly placed personalities and can say without a shadow of doubt that a good job has been done by the committee devoid of any partisan consideration. “I commend the highly professional, open and accountable manner in which the process were undertaken and hope next year will even be better and greater with more sponsors coming on board.” He added.

The Selection Committee was chaired by Professor Abu Yaya – Acting Dean School of Engineering. The co-chairperson was Ms. Angela Nkansah: Municipal Director of Education, Madina.

Other members of the Committee were Prof. Charles Barnor – Pro Vice Chancellor, UPSA, Prof Raymond Dziwornu: Dean Faculty of Accounting and Finance, UPSA, Dr. Haruna Rufai: Senior Reseach Fellow, UPSA, Dr. Christopher Quaidoo: Lecturer, UPSA- Member, Mr. Adams Yunus, University of Ghana, Mr. Odjidja David, Headmaster Presec and Tim K Avordeh, the Chief Executive of the Eduscheme in the Office of the Member of Parliament.
