The Electoral Commission of Ghana led by Mrs. Jean Mensa has pulled out of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential and Parliamentary Primary Elections.
The Chairperson explained that, in view of the injunction seeking to restrain the Commission from supervising the conduct of the Primaries, the Commission had taken the decision not to go ahead with supervising the conduct of the NDC primary elections until after the determination of the case by the court.
The decision was taken following an injunction application filed by one of the NDC’s Presidential aspirants Dr. Kwabena Duffour.
Meanwhile, earlier, the Electoral Commission met with the leadership of the National Democratic Congress over the issue.
The purpose of the meeting was to communicate the Commission’s decision regarding its supervision of the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries of the NDC slated for Saturday, 13th May, 2023.
According to the party leadership, Friday, 12th May, 2023 has been slated for hearing of the case in court instead of Monday, 15th May, 2023.
