Former President of Ghana His Excellency John Dramani Mahama says, his next National Democratic Congress (NDC) government will repeal the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) Act.
Addressing Ghanaians on Ghana at a CrossRoad on Monday 2nd May, 2022 at Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra, John Mahama spoke at length regarding how the wheels and caprices of the country is runed under the watch of the sitting President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking at the programme, the Former President has emphatically said “a new National Democratic Congress Government, God willing and with the votes of the sovereign people of Ghana in 2025 will repeal the E-levy Act.”
Repealing the E-levy act is synonymous to cancellation /or reversal of the E-levy Act. No tax can exist without a law therefore, it simply means that once the law is repealed, the tax becomes ineffective and must vanish.
The Electronic Transfer Levy Bill was passed by Majority MPs in Parliament despite the walkout of the Minority MPs.
The bill, after its passage has been assented into Law by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and printed by Ghana Publishing Company Ltd.
The Ghana Revenue Authority has also commenced full implementation of the Act on Sunday, 1st May, 2022.
