GES releases Legal Framework on the Rights of Children in Ghana

Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a Legal Framework on the Rights of Children especially Ghanaian students who suffered the wrath of teachers in schools.
The Ghana Education Service, as part of its stakeholders engagements on the “back to school campaign” has released a list of legal backing for school children in Ghana as a reminder to GES Staff.

The Legal Framework on the Right of Children is contained in a document designed by Ghana Education Service for its Regional Level Training ahead of reopening of schools after the long Covid-19 break.
The Legal Framework were classified under two main categories thus: Local Context and Policies.

LOCAL CONTEXT
The following Legal Framework on the Right of Children are outlined under the Local Context.
1. The 1992 Constitution which protects the rights of all Ghanaians.
2. The Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651)
3. Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715)
4. Education Act 2008 (Act 778)
POLICIES
1. The Free Compulsory Universal Basic
Education (1995).
2. The Early Childhood Care Development
Policy (2004).
3. The Child and Family Welfare Policy (2014).
4. Inclusive Education Policy (2015) and
5. The National HIV/AIDS Policy (2016-2010).
