Next NDC government will cancel E-levy -John Mahama assures

Former President and 2024 flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will cancel the 1% electronic levy and subsidize the cost of data for public institutions.
Addressing a large audience, John Mahama said “It is an inequitable tax. It is not a fair tax. It prevents people from our movement to an uptick cashless society. So when NDC comes, we will remove that tax.”
Adding, he maintained his position saying on the talk about Article 71 in the 1992 Constitution saying his next government “will abolish Article 71 in the 1992 Constitution to ensure fairness in the public sector.”
He talked about the elimination of Article 71 in the 1992 Constitution and embracing an independent emolument structure for collective collaboration, creative partnership, and fair resource-sharing.”
“Let’s get rid of Article 71… Let us all come under an independent emolument structure so that we can work together, create together” and “share equitably,” John Mahama calls on Ghanaians.
