No hampers for Gov’t appointees this Christmas – Ken Ofori-Atta Speaks

The finance Minister for the Republic of Ghana, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta has given a directive on Christmas hampers for this years Christmas.

The Government of Ghana spends huge sums of money to provide hampers for some public sector workers especially government appointees during festive occasions such as Christmas, Easter among others.

This year, the man in charge of the country’s economy, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta has stated that due to the economic situation in the country, the Government will not provide any hampers for the 2022 Christmas.

At point 125 of the 2023 budget statement, the minister said;

125. Mr. Speaker, as a first step toward expenditure rationalisation, Government has approved the following directives which takes effect from January, 2023.

  • There shall be no hampers for 2022
