North Tongu District Assembly distributes metallic dual desks to selected Basic Schools
The North Tongu District Assembly led by the District Chief Executive (DCE) Hon. Osborn Divine K Fenu has distributed a number of metallic dual desks to some selected Basic Schools within the North Tongu District on Thursday, 25th May, 2023.
According to Hon. Osborn Divine K Fenu, the beneficiary schools were selected based on the need assessment done by the North Tongu Education Directorate and covers schools in almost all the traditional areas of the District.
In all, a total number of two hundred and fifty (250) metallic dual desks were distributed to 12 basic schools across the District Assembly.
Addressing concerns on source of funding, Hon. Osborn Divine K Fenu said, the metallic dual desks distributed was the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government sponsored project.
He again assured that the North Tongu District Assembly shall continue to support education in the district through the provision infrastructure among others.
Teachers and pupils were urged not to leave the desks at the mercy of the weather. They were advised to keep the maintenance culture that is lacking in most Basic schools in the country so that desks could be put to good use for number of years.
He noted that, North Tongu is grateful to the NPP Government for the continuous support in the area of education.
