NTC CPD workshop: “Dodging teachers” in Agona-East-Nsaba district called for explanation and scrutiny.
Some teachers in the Agona-East-Nsaba District are currently under investigation by the district education directorate for their non-participation in a recently conducted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshop.
The workshop, organized in collaboration with the National Teaching Council (NTC), was tailored to augment teachers’ classroom practices through the acquisition of enhanced skills and knowledge.
In a letter dated December 11, 2023, Mr. Thomas Kwoffie, the District Director of Education at the district education directorate, issued a formal query to the teachers, urging them to furnish valid reasons justifying their absence from the CPD workshop.
The purpose of this inquiry is to determine whether disciplinary actions should be taken against the teachers. The teachers have until Friday, December 15, 2023, to submit their responses to the district education directorate.
This incident underscores the paramount importance placed on continuous professional development within the education sector. It accentuates the necessity of ensuring that teachers stay abreast of the latest teaching methodologies and approaches.
By orchestrating such workshops, the district education directorate and the NTC aspire to bolster teachers’ professional growth, ultimately elevating the overall quality of education in the Agona-East-Nsaba District.
