NTC’s school visits to ensure compliance with National Teaching Standards

In accordance with section 83 of Act 1023, the National Teaching Council (NTC) will be conducting compliance checks on teachers in selected districts. These visits aim to assess teachers’ adherence to the standards set for the teaching profession, which is crucial for the renewal of their licenses.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the NTC has developed comprehensive guidelines and assessment tools for this purpose.
To execute this important task, compliance officers, who have received training from the NTC, will be deployed to eighteen Metro/Municipal/Districts across the Ashanti, Eastern, Greater Accra, and Northern Regions.
Their primary responsibility will be to evaluate the extent to which teachers are meeting the established teaching standards.
The scheduled period for these visits is from November to December 2023. In light of this initiative, the Regional Directors of Education are requested to inform the respective Metro/Municipal/District Directors about the upcoming visits.
A letter signed by Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, the Acting Director of the Schools and Instructions Division on behalf of the Director-General, has been issued to communicate this directive.
The selected eighteen districts where the compliance checks will occur are as follows:
- Savelugu District
- Sekyere South District
- Abuakwa South District
- Akyemansa District
- Yilo Krobo District
- Kwahu West District
- Brim Central District
- New Juaben North Municipal
- Akuapem North District
- Accra Metro
- New Juaben South Municipal
- Shai Osudoku District
- Ada East District
- Ablekuma North Municipal
- Ga North Municipal
- La Nkwantanang-Madina
- Ga South Municipal
- Adenta Municipal
The NTC’s school visits aim to ensure that the teaching profession in Ghana maintains the highest standards of quality and professionalism. By conducting these compliance checks, the NTC and GES are actively working towards improving the educational landscape in the country.
