The Member of Parliament for the South Dayi Constituency, Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has said that the Okada riders in the South Dayi constituency are contributing massively towards the local economy of the area.
It could be recalled that the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress John Dramani Mahama of which Hon. Dafeamekpor is a member indicated that he would take steps to legalize the ‘Okada’ business when he wins the upcoming December Presidential election.
However, supporting the promise made by his flagbearer, Hon. Dafeamekpor has indicated that he has already started putting steps in place to make sure that motor riders ( Okada ) within his constituency undertake their activities safely as they also contribute massively towards the local economy.
In a Facebook post, Hon. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor said that he has organized the motorcycle riders within his constituency and have procured DVLA riding licenses, registration of the motor bikes, insurance and reflectors for them so they become visible to other motorists at night and also undertake their work safely.
In a Facebook post, Hon. Dafeamekpor wrote;
This is how I have organized my Okada boys in South-Dayi at Tongor-Dzemeni, Toh-Kpalime, Todome and Kpeve. I’ve procured DVLA riding licenses, registration of the motor bikes and insurance. Above all, I’ve given them reflectors so they become visible to other motorists at night. My Okada boys in south dayi are contributing massively towards the local economy. I’m in the process of donating reflector jackets to them soon and sponsor more licenses to be done for them. I shall also organise periodic seminars on road traffic regulations for them. This is exactly what Prez Mahama speaks about. People think Accra is Ghana.
