Okudzeto Ablakwa reflects on the 11 powers of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills

The Honourable Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has reflected on the power of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills and the purity of his legacy after marking 11 years of his death.

The sudden death of Former President (deceased) Professor John Evans Atta Mills occurred 11 years ago today, 24th July 2012.

His demise caused the whole world to stand still and reflect all his good deeds.

Commemorating his legacy, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa pens that “The power of your example and the purity of your legacy continues to radiate brighter and brighter each passing day — not only in our hearts but featuring prominently in the national discourse about how your exceptional qualities remain the only blueprint for the transformation of the country you loved so greatly.”

Below is the detailed list of the 11 reflections on the power of Prof. John Evans Atta Mills’ example and the purity of his legacy as the nation commemorates his 11 years of transition:

1. Authentic God-fearing leadership;
2. Genuine incorruptibility;
3. Compassion for the people he served;
4. Exceptional Modesty and Selflessness as he eschewed any form of profligacy;
5. Belief in the Youth;
6. He used political power for progressive nation building not to witch-hunt political opponents;
7. By his unquestionable integrity, he earned enormous respect for the high office of President;
8. Visionary leadership leading to Ghana’s highest GDP growth rate, record cocoa production and the most far-reaching public sector pay reform ever implemented;
9. Never demolished national assets and never squandered state resources on misplaced projects of grandeur;
10. As we recall in that famous surprise visit to the Tema Port following an Anas exposé — Prof hated corruption, he did not shield corrupt officials or become a corruption clearing agent, he did not harass or fault Anas for exposing corruption even though he never made a deceptive song and dance in opposition about adopting the Anas Principle;
11. When corrupt officials are forced to resign he never applauded them and never declared them innocent even before credible formal investigations commence.

“Prof Mills — you will forever remain deeply cherished in our hearts,” Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa expressed his love.

“May all contemporary Ghanaian leaders find the courage and character to emulate your worthy example,” he urged Ghanaian leaders to tow his path.
