Orlando Jorge Mera was a Lawyer by profession and a Dominican Republic politician and a journalist.

He was well known for his political career and was the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources from the year August 16th 2020 to 6th June 2022 and the Director-General of INDOTEL for a period of four years August 2000 to August 2004.

From his early days in politics to 2014, he was affiliated with the Dominican Revolutionary Party but officially joined the Modern Revolutionary Party and served from 2014 to 2022.

Mera in 1991, graduated with a degree in law from the Pontifical Catholic University Mother and Teacher(PUCMM). He became a professor of Media Law, Introduction to Law and Administrative Law at Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE).
