Our decision for 2024 BECE Candidates to write 5 subjects is inconclusive – GES
The head of the PR Department of GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo has issued a notice to address GES’s decision on “2024 BECE Candidates to write 5 subjects” viral news. She explained that their “decision is inconclusive.”
According to the notice, she said the Director in charge of Schools and Instructions in an attempt to trigger public discussion on the 2024 BECE and NaCCA’s decision to scrap some subjects hinted at the possibility of candidates writing five (5) subjects for the 2024 BECE.
Confirming what the Director in charge of Schools and Instructions said in the viral video, she agreed that discussions are ongoing under closed doors on the subject matter.
“Yes, there has been some discussions surrounding the subject matter and a proposal to write the five subjects but the decision is inconclusive.”
“The public has reacted and there are calls to include other subjects whilst other concerns are being raised.
“GES would like to state unequivocally that the stakeholders are yet to finalize on the decision. The Ministry, NaCCA, GES, and other bodies are critically looking at the issues and the final decision would be communicated on the GES or the Ministry’s letterhead or published on the official website of the various bodies.
“We therefore advise directors, heads, students, and parents to note that what is circulating on social media isn’t conclusive and may be subject to change after meeting all the stakeholders involved.”
