Pharmacy Students of UCC showcase skills in compounding and innovation challenges

Tracy Sowa and Leticia Agbesi, both Level 400 students from the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SoPPS), emerged as winners of the Compounding Challenge and the Pharma Innovation Challenge held during the Annual Week Celebration of the Ghana Pharmaceutical Students’ Association-UCC (GPSA-UCC).

The competition saw students from Levels 100-400 of the SoPPS battle it out using simple medical methods to prepare Paracetamol Elixir and Zinc Oxide Ointment.

The challenges were aimed at testing the students’ knowledge and skills in compounding and pharmaceutical innovation.

The event was graced by officials from the Food and Drugs Authority who served as judges of the challenge.

The judges were impressed by the students’ level of expertise and praised the GPSA-UCC for organizing such an educative and informative challenge.

Tracy Sowa and Leticia Agbesi, the winners of the competition, expressed their excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their skills and knowledge in pharmaceuticals.

They also thanked the GPSA-UCC and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences for providing them with the platform to hone their skills.

The Dean of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. Kwabena Ofori-Kwakye, congratulated the winners and all participants for their excellent performance.

He emphasized the importance of such competitions in preparing students for the challenges of the pharmaceutical industry and encouraged them to continue to work hard and strive for excellence.

The GPSA-UCC Annual Week Celebration ended on a high note as students from the SoPPS showcased their knowledge, skills, and creativity in the Compounding Challenge and the Pharma Innovation Challenge.

The challenges proved to be an excellent platform for students to showcase their talents, and the winners were well-deserving of their accolades.
