According to the Electricity Company of Ghana’s planned maintenance schedule, parts of the Ashanti Region, including some communities in Kumasi, will experience power interruptions on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 as part of the ongoing 161kV Anwomaso-Ahodwo transmission line upgrade.

The outages are scheduled for six (6) hours between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, and November 3 falls within the announced outage window of October 30 to November 29, 2026.

GRIDCo and ECG suggested that the cuts are needed to safely complete work on the transmission line, which is now about seventy percent (70%) complete and due to be finished by the end of November 2026. The project’s goal is to strengthen the electricity transmission and improve reliability across Kumasi and surrounding areas.

The ECG has indicated it will subsequently publish a detailed timetable listing the specific communities affected and their dates. Residents are entreated to check official ECG announcements to confirm if their area is scheduled for November 3.
