President Atta Mills embodied the true essence of servant leadership -Prof. PLO Lumumba
Prof. PLO Lumumba has applauded the leadership qualities of the late President Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills in a speech.
The speech was delivered on the occasion of the Atta Mills Lecture, in Ghana, dated Wednesday, 26th July 2023.
According to the speech, Prof. PLO Lumumba disclosed that “In the annals of African history, President Atta Mills stands tall as a paragon of humility, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to the service of his people. He understood that leadership is not a title or a position of authority, but rather a sacred responsibility to uplift and empower the lives of those he served.”
“Atta Mills embodied the true essence of servant leadership, where the leader’s primary goal is to serve the collective well-being of the nation, placing the interests of the people above personal ambitions.”
Speaking about Atta Mills’ empathetic nature and including his impact on policies, among others he indicated that
“Atta Mills was not only empathetic in his interactions with the public but also in his decision-making as a leader. He considered the impact of policies on people’s lives and sought to implement measures that would address their needs and aspirations.”
“Throughout his tenure, President Atta Mills demonstrated unwavering integrity and a commitment to good and ethical governance.”
Prof. PLO Lumumba called all Ghanaian leaders to pick lessons from the leadership style of J.E.A Mills saying “By embracing these lessons from Atta Mills’ life and leadership, current Ghanaian leaders can contribute to the continued growth, prosperity, and unity of the nation, fulfilling their sacred duty to serve the people with dignity and distinction.”
