Professor John Gatsi: Who is Professor John Gatsi?
Professor John Gatsi is a native of Devego in the Volta Region, Ghana. He is a product of the University of Ghana, Legon (UG). In the year 2020, he was promoted to full Professor of Finance.
Professor John Gatsi: Education
Professor John Gatsi attended and completed Ohawu R/C Primary and L/A Middle School in 1988.
In the year 1993, he obtained General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level Certificate (Science) at Keta Secondary Technical School

Fast forward to 1995, he enrolled at Keta Secondary Technical School for sixth-form education where he obtained GCE Advanced Level.
Professor John Gatsi: University/tertiary education
After obtaining his GCE Advanced Level in 1995 he gained admission at the University of Ghana (UG) in 1997 to read Bachelor of Science in Administration, with Accounting option. After three (3) years, in 2000, he completed the University of Ghana, Legon (UG).

In 2003/2004-2006, Prof. Gatsi was offered admission to read Master of Science in International Accounting at Gothenburg University, Sweden.
Prof. John Gatsi: Work and Experience
- In 2007, he was employed at the University of Cape Coast as a lecturer to teach Finance and related courses.
- Alongside his work schedules, he studied and obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Ghana Law School in 2011. Just after a year, in 2012, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer.
- 2014 pushed him higher. He obtained a Ph.D. in Finance from the Central University of Nicaragua
- Two (2) years later, in 2016, Prof. Gatsi was adjudged the Best Lecturer by the UCC-SRC
- 2016: Promoted to the rank of Associate Professor
- 2016-2019: Served as Head of the Department of Finance
- 2017: Called to the Bar after completing the professional Law Program at the Ghana School of Law
- Since 2017 till date: He has supervised 12 M. Com students and 22 MBA students
- 2019: Appointed Dean of the School of Business and will end his term in office in July 2025
- 2020: Promoted to full Professor of Finance
- 29 February 2024: Delivered an inaugural lecture on the topic: ” Islamic Banking Options: Exploring an Inclusive Alternative or Complement”.
