Seventeen Sailors Graduated From HTU-NAVTRAC Advanced Certificate In Cook Steward Course
Seventeen (17) sailors have graduated from the Ho Technical University-Navy Training Command (HTU-NAVTRAC) Advanced Certificate in Cook Steward course.
The programme was structured based on the academic partnership between Ho Technical University (HTU) and the Supply Application School (SAS) of the Naval Training Command.
The seventeen (17) sailors who graduated from the course are the first batch. This yielded success was graced on Thursday, December 14, 2023, with the graduation of the 17 naval personnel who completed the Advanced Certificate Cook Steward course.
The graduates comprise fourteen (14) females and three (3) males.
The course they underwent was a fixed 13-week long coursework under the auspices of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management of the University, Ho Technical University.
The graduation ceremony was held at the NAVTRAC base at Nutekpor.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ben Honyenuga addressed the ceremony. He applauded the graduates for their dedication during the course despite their closed schedules.

encouraged the graduates to embrace continuous learning because it will prepare them for higher duties within and outside the Armed Forces.
Further in his address, he (VC) again applauded the Naval Training Command for counting on the University to enhance the skills of their personnel through training and certification. He also assured them of HTU’s commitment to quality training, research, and innovation.
Expressing his joy for the success chalked by the collaboration, he disclosed that this marks the beginning of more successes for the two institutions because the 17 graduates have proved that dedication and hard work mark a collective march towards excellence.
Addressing further, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), NAVTRAC, Commodore Bright Atiayao spotlighted the vital role of Cook Stewards in ensuring Navy operational readiness.
He lauded the joint effort of the University and Supply Application School in equipping personnel with essential skills for peak performance at sea, commending the University’s expertise and academic rigor.
FOC Commodore Atiayao urged the sailors to take up future challenges, leveraging on the personal and professional growth gained from the course.
He also complimented Officers, Instructors, and Supporting Staff for their sacrifices in the 13-week journey of rigorous coursework.
Able Seaman Class 1, Ansah Solomon Ackon, received the Best Graduating Student award during the brief but colourful ceremony, graced by the Director of Naval Training, Capt (GN) Danies Fiifi Eghan, representing the Chief of Naval Staff.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied to the ceremony by Dr. Christopher Amehoe (Registrar), Mr. Isaac Meyir (Ag. Director of Academic Affairs), Mr. Emmanuel Selase (Ag. Director of Public Affairs), and Dr. John Coker Ayimah (Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology.
The Head of Department (HoD) of the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Madam Otilia Adzinyo, and Dr. Vincent Asimah from the same Department also accompanied the VC to the graduation ceremony.
