SOGASCO’79 Construct Bungalow, set to launch scholarship scheme for needy students

The 1979 year group of Sogakope Senior High School (SOGASCO’79) has demonstrated their commitment to giving back by constructing a remarkable two-bedroom staff bungalow at a cost of USD 35,000 for their alma mater.
Following this remarkable achievement, the group has now turned their attention to establishing a scholarship scheme aimed at supporting financially challenged but academically talented students of the school.
During a meeting held in Ho last Saturday, the group discussed their plans for the scholarship scheme, which is scheduled to be launched later this year.
De-Kuza Akwetey, President of SOGASCO’79, shared with The Mirror that the group has already raised a significant amount in dollars as seed money for the initiative.
“Our primary objective is to ensure that no brilliant student is forced to drop out of school due to financial constraints,” Mr. Akwetey explained passionately.
Under the scheme, students who excel in their terminal examinations will be rewarded for their outstanding achievements.
Meanwhile, the year group, which currently consists of 47 registered members, has embarked on a mission to locate and register additional members in order to expand the group’s membership base.
This will not only facilitate the fundraising efforts for the scholarship scheme but also support other development projects within the school compound.
Mr. Akwetey further revealed that the group is actively exploring initiatives such as improving sanitation facilities by providing more decent toilets and undertaking the completion of the institution’s perimeter fence.
He emphasized the significance of creating a conducive environment with strict discipline on the school premises to ensure the maintenance of high academic standards.
With their unwavering dedication to the welfare of their alma mater and the students it serves, the SOGASCO’79 alumni continue to make substantial contributions that will have a lasting impact on the school community.
Through their collective efforts, they are determined to foster a supportive educational environment and empower talented students who would otherwise face financial barriers to their success.
