Some damnming allegations have been made against some members of Parliament on the ticket of the opposition National Democratic Congress.
According to the information, some of the lawmakers on the NDC side are allegedly taking some cash to vote for the Electronic Transactions Levy in Parliament when the motion on it is moved.
According to the host of with all due respect, some new entrants into Parliament on the ticket of the Party are allegedly taking an amount of GH¢100,000 to support the Electronic transactions Levy.
Kelvin Tailor further called on the leadership of the National Democratic Congress side of Parliament to ensure that voting on the Electronic transactions Levy is not done through secret balloting.
ABOUT THE ELECTRONIC TRANSACTIONS LEVY
The electronic transactions Levy is a tax which has been proposed by the President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo led Government which will dictate that 1.75% of the following transactions are taken out as tax by the Government.
a. Mobile Money Transfers between accounts on the same Electronic Money Issuer (EMI)
b. Mobile Money transfers from an account on one EMI to a recipient on another EMI
c. Transfers from bank accounts to mobile money accounts
d. Transfer from mobile money accounts to bank accounts; and
e. Bank transfers on a digital platform or application which originate from a bank account belonging to an individual, to another individual.
