South Tongu DFA organizes workshop for referees; Supports with cash ahead of Division 3 League

The South Tongu District Football Association (STDFA) has organized  workshop for referees that will officiate in the upcoming Division three (3) League.

The training workshop which took place at Sogakope Senior High School (SOGASCO) in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region saw in attendance a number of young, talented and upcoming referees who are ready to serve.

Mr. Tublu Jonas, the Secretary to the Referees Association of Akatsi-Tongu, took the referees through some rules and principles governing officiating during football matches.


South Tongu District Football Association organizes sports clinic for team officials

Mr. Tublu Jonas provided further education to referees on the following;

1. Pre match technical meeting

2. Match report writing


a. Team work
b. Basic responsibilities of referees and assistant referees.
c. Positioning and Gates.
d. Application of law 18 among others.

According to the Association, the major purpose of organizing the workshop for the referees is to prepare them for the task ahead in the upcoming Division 3 League.

South Tongu District Football Association chairman donates PPEs to residents

The workshop forms part of the Association’s plans to address all issues and enlighten the referees before this year’s League starts.

Chairman of the South Tongu District Football Association Mr. Francis Quashie Agbedeke, on behalf of the Association donated an amount of GH¢ 800.00 to support the training workshop. According to him, plans are underway to provide more supports to referees.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Francis Quashie Agbedeke used the opportunity to encourage the referees to be professional in their work and must apply all the laws fairly on field of play.

He appealed to the referees to avoid taking offers from teams as there is a centralized personnel to provide them anything they may need and any club official who wish to provide same must do that through that person.

The Chairman further explained that, the South Tongu District Football Association will from time to time pay their officiating allowance in advance to all officials.

He also encouraged them to endeavour to submit match reports within 24hrs after every match.

The South Tongu District Football Association has scheduled a Division three (3) League for registered clubs within the area.

The League is scheduled to kick start on 25th July, 2021 to 8th August, 2021. The clubs are grouped into categories thus; Zone A fixtures and Zone B fixtures.
