The South Tongu District Football Association (STDFA) in the Volta Region has organized sports clinic for team officials for the upcoming 2020/2021 Season.
Addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the South Tongu District Football Association Mr. Francis Quashie Agbedeke has outlined plans of the Association in their upcoming sports activities.
The plans as outlined by him include; Launching of juvenile league,Screening of players, U-15 Gala the juvenile league and Division 3 League in the District.
According to him, the purpose of the workshop was to bring together club owners, coaches, administrators, team physiotherapist etc together under one umbrella to promote sports in the District ahead of start of the season.
He noted that, the sports clinic is one of the Association’s plans to address all issues and enlighten them before this year’s League starts.
Speaking at the event, the Head Coach of West Africa Football Academy Dr Prosper Nartey Ogum advised coaches and team officials to advance their communications skills and must also teach players how to grant interviews. He also educated individuals on recommended diet of players and asked that, each player must eat at least 2 hours before a match commences.
Dr Prosper Nartey Ogum further cautioned players to avoid taking tramadol and other nacotics to get energy to play football on the pitch. This he said will weaken them in the future.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Tublu Jonas the Secretary to the Referees Association of Akatsi-Tongu used the opportunity to provide an intensive education on officiating among many. He also called on team managers to hunt for young and talented footballers at an early age for future benefits.
A joint team from the South Tongu National Ambulance Service and the Ghana National Fire Service also used the session to educate attendees on their roles as state institutions in sports activities. They ensured the officials of effective security and safety of the players and spectators during the league. Education on how to manage players and players welfare, steps to take in putting up an academy or a sports facility were done during the clinic.
LAUNCHING OF JUVENILE LEAGUE
According to Mr. Francis Quashie Agbedeke, the Juvenile league launch will come off on Saturday, 22nd May, 2021 at the Sogakope Sport Stadium between 8:am and 3:00pm.
