The 2020/2021 on-going Ghana Premier League (GPL) week-25 has produced results very much anticipated by many soccer-loving fans.
Based on historical antecedents with reference to the last ten (10) matches to end the league, teams playing at home hold a firm philosophy of grabbing all the three points or in the worse case scenario secure a point irrespective of how tough the away/visiting team would be.
Seemingly, none of the visiting teams emerged victorious in this weekend’s fixture. Asante Kotoko being the best away team for match day 25, secured a point in their game against Liberty Professionals in a 1-1 draw scoreline at the end of 90minutes plus time added on.
Undoubtedly, the biggest talking point for match day 25, came up in the late kick-off fixture between Hearts of Oak and Elmina Sharks which ended by 2goals to nil in favour of the phobians. A very controversial penalty was awarded Hearts of Oak and consequently, goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey of Elmina Sharks stepped off the goal line to save the penalty kick by Victor Aidoo kick yet the centre referee Maxwell Owusu never called for a replay.
Per the current standings, Asante Kotoko, Hearts Of Oak, Karela, Medeama and Great Olympics are competing keenly to be crowned champions.
Ebusua Dwarfs will be hosting Dreams FC on Monday to wrap up match day 25.
