South Tongu GES has declared a day off for teachers to Commemorate the 2023 World Teachers Day.

In a letter dated 4th October, 2023 signed by the District Director of South Tongu Education Directorate, Mrs. Celestine S.A Korsi-Agordo, the management of the Directorate has declared Thursday 5th October 2023 as a day off for all public school teachers within her jurisdiction in consonance with the district’s commemoration of this year’s World Teachers Day.

The Directorate recognized the hard work and dedication of staff putting forth excellent work always. Hence, based on their inputs, the management has decided to give off a day to celebrate this notable day in their career.

“Your excellent performance is an inspiration to all, although there is more room for improvement. Keep working like this and nothing will be able to stop you. Thank you for being yourself every day,” she showered praises.

Giving insights of how this edition will be celebrated in the District, she detailed that
“This year’s World Teachers Day commemoration, the maiden edition of South Tongu, is scheduled to take place at Sogakope D.A Basic B’ School on the national theme, The Teachers We Need for the Education We Want: The Global Imperative to Reverse the Teacher Shortage.

Further, the letter stated that “Few teachers/staff who have distinguished themselves, as far as work is concerned, will be recognized on this special occasion.”

The said event will commence at “8 a.m with a town procession to be led by the SOGASCO Wind Band, from the Directorate through the Sogakope old road to Y-junction, through Aflao-Accra highway, to Sogakope D.A. Basic School ‘B’ which is the venue for the celebration,” she concluded.
