He also lauded the contributions of the Moslem community to the development of the country, adding that they are much appreciated by all and sundry.
Mr. Woyome was speaking in an interview with our newesteam at Dabala after touring some parts of the constituency to distribute some food items to the Muslims.
The donation of the food items to the Muslims towards their religious celebrations has become part of the annual itinerary of the country’s leaders particularly among members of the political hierarchy.
As part of this year’s celebration of Eid-Ul-Fitr amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the MP for South Tongu, Hon. Wisdom Korbla Mensah Woyome used the occasion to pay courtesy calls on Moslems at the Sogakope, Dabala Junction and Dabala Zongos not only to congratulate them on their festival celebration but also present some gifts to them as part of the event.
The MP who was accompanied by some Constituency Executives of the NDC, donated thirty (30) bags of 25 kilogranmmes of rice as well as twelve (12) cartons of cooking oil to the beneficiary Muslims during the separate ceremonies.
Presenting the items, Mr. Woyome noted that even though the items may not be enough, it is a gesture of his appreciation of their role as major stakeholders of the country, adding that he is optimistic that their prayers would help bring an end to the current Covid-19 pandemic the country is seriously bedeviled with.
Mr. Woyome stressed the need for the Moslem community to continue to offer their prayers and support to the NDC party, adding that they should strictly abide by the Covid-19 pandemic protocols of hand-washing with soap under running water, use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers as well as the use of nose masks in order to protect themselves as well as others they come into contact with.
