Speaker Alban Bagbin is a betrayal – Kevin Taylor

Kevin Ekow Baidoo Taylor, a Ghanaian journalist based in the U.S. and founder of Loud Silence Media, has once again sparked controversy with his outspoken criticism of political figures in Ghana.

Taylor, renowned for his hard-hitting show “With All Due Respect” which airs on Facebook and YouTube, used his latest episode to target the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

In a scathing monologue, Taylor accused Bagbin of betraying the very party that helped secure his position as Speaker. According to Taylor, Bagbin’s election to the role was largely due to the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) support during the chaotic parliamentary sessions on the eve of January 7, 2021. Despite this, Taylor claims, Bagbin has been consistently ruling in favor of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), a move that he believes undermines the NDC and its efforts in Parliament.

Taylor did not mince words as he described Bagbin’s tenure as a series of “rubbish rulings” that go against the interests of the NDC. He further labeled Bagbin as a “liar” and “corrupt,” adding that his actions have been a significant obstacle to the progress of the NDC in Parliament.

The journalist went on to suggest that Bagbin’s leadership style, which includes presiding over parliamentary sessions and enforcing parliamentary rules, is superficial, accusing him of playing to the gallery by dressing “like a clown” and performing his duties without any real impact.

Taylor’s sharp critique extended beyond Bagbin’s parliamentary conduct, stating that the Speaker has been more focused on pleasing President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP government than on standing with the Ghanaian people or the NDC. He expressed frustration at what he perceives as Bagbin’s failure to uphold the laws and standards that the Speaker of Parliament should defend.
