The office of the special prosecutor of Ghana has announced the launch of an investigation into certain alleged and suspected corruption and it’s related offenses at the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in a press rele ase dated 22nd August, 2022
The Customs Division is an operational organization that falls under the Ghana Revenue Authority. The Customs division has offices that are situated at the various entry and exit points of the country.
This investigative action by the Special Prosecutor’s office is as a result of the auction sales of vehicles and other goods by the Customs Division between 1st July, 2016 and 15th August, 2022.
According to the release, the office of the special prosecutor has tasked the Customs Division to provide certain information and documents for the auctioned goods and vehicles and that they should produce all such documents before 30th September, 2022.
The division has also been ordered to halt all auctions at the GRA until these investigations are concluded.
