Students and police officers rashed to hospital after disturbances at Islamic SHS, Abrepo

An unidentified number of students and police officers have been taken to the hospital after a disturbance at the Islamic Senior High School, Abrepo – Kumasi.

According to a press release by the Ghana Police Service, some students of the Islamic Senior High School at Abrepo, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region took to the streets and blocked the road to allegedly protest against frequent accidents in front of their school.

Earlier reports had it that, the incident which happened on Monday, June 13, 2022 saw some 28 students rushed to the hospital after the police fired tear gas into the crowd of students.

The release, signed by DCOP Kwesi Ofori (Director General, Public Affairs) indicated that the police have commenced an investigation into the incident and further development will be communicated.

It also added that, the Inspector-General of Police is proceeding to Kumasi for a first-hand assessment of the situation.
