The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Suhum Constituency in the Eastern Region Hon. Amanda Kwatia Okyere has donates relief items, Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) among others to private school teachers in her constituency.

“Yesterday I had the opportunity to make a donation to the private teachers of the Suhum Constituency. The private teachers will benefit from these relief items necessitated by the economic impacts of COVID-19.” She said.

Some of the items donated includes; bags of rice, boxes of vegetable oil among other food items worth thousands of Ghana cedis. She added that, private school teachers within the Suhum constituency will benefit from the relief items and the PPEs donated.

According to Hon. Amanda Kwatia Okyere, she wished to donate more to the vulnerable teachers who have not received salaries since the closure of schools in March following the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic but she is hopeful that, the little donations made will cushion them in these difficult period as we battle the Pandemic. “I wish I can do more but am consoled that this gesture will cushion them in these difficult period as we battle the Pandemic.” She explained.

Hon. Amanda Kwatia Okyere has also called on the government to support all private school teachers, the vulnerable and the poor in the Suhum constituency with portion of the Coronavirus Alleviation Programme (CAP) Funds. She also served a notice to President Akufo-Addo’s government not to continuously forget the people of Suhum, because, they deserve to be supported, and must also benefit from the much vaunted government stimulus package.

“I will like to thank those who supported me to reach out to our private teachers. I will like to use this opportune moment to call on the government not to continuously forget the people of Suhum, they deserve to be supported, they deserve to benefit from the much vaunted government stimulus package.” She proposed.

She also took the opportunity to sensitize the residents in the area on the dangers of the Coronavirus and the need for them to observe the safety protocols as the country’s case count goes beyond 11,000.

Hon. Amanda Kwatia Okyere urged the residents of Suhum and its environs to throw their support behind the NDC flagbearer H.E John Dramani Mahama and vote for him for better policies that will transform the lives of rural and urban dwellers.
