Sunyani Technical University launches investigation into allegations of “Sex for Grades”

Sunyani Technical University (STU) has set up a committee to investigate the allegedly “sex for grades” controversy. Currently, STU is facing a controversy following the release of a revealing exposé titled “Exposed: Sex-Hungry Lecturers” in the media.

Allegations of a scandal involving sex-for-grades, brought to light by Mr. Owusu Agyekum, a former Student Representative Council (SRC) President of the institution, have prompted the university’s administration to take swift action.

Responding to the serious accusations, Professor Kwadwo Adinkrah-Appiah, the Vice-Chancellor has taken immediate steps to address the situation. In a press release, Professor Adinkrah-Appiah emphasized the severity of the matter and assured the public that the university is fully committed to handling it with the utmost seriousness.

“The Management of Sunyani Technical University is fully aware of the recent media reports concerning alleged sexual misconduct involving certain faculty members,” the statement read. “We want to reassure all stakeholders that these allegations are being taken very seriously, and the university has taken decisive action by establishing a dedicated committee to conduct a thorough investigation.”

The university’s management reiterated its firm stance against all forms of sexual harassment and misconduct, emphasizing its zero-tolerance policy. It was made clear that any violation of the institution’s policies in this regard would be met with swift and appropriate disciplinary measures.

The Vice-Chancellor affirmed that the well-being and safety of the students and staff are of utmost importance and assured that the university will not hesitate to enforce the full extent of its disciplinary code and sexual harassment policy to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for all.

Furthermore, the press release aimed to reassure concerned stakeholders that transparency and accountability would guide the investigative process. The committee assigned to probe the allegations will operate independently and impartially, with the sole objective of uncovering the truth.
