Teacher Unions take on GES over delay in releasing GES Promotion Results

The Teacher Unions, Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), and Coalition of Concerned Teachers Ghana (CCT-GH), have released a letter talking about the delay in releasing Ghana Education Service (GES) Promotion Results.
The letter dated 15th August 2023 was signed by Thomas T. Musah, General Secretary (GNAT), Eric Agbe-Carbonu, President (NAGRAT), and King Ali Awudu, President (CCT-GH).
In the letter, the Teacher Unions expressed their dismay and unhappiness with regard to the delay in releasing the March 2023 promotion results.
The Unions detailed that the said delayed GES Promotion Results examination was written in March 2023.
Adding, they said “per the agreement we had with the Ghana Education Service (GES), two promotion exams were supposed to be written annually (March and August).
“As we write this letter, we are already in the month of August 2023, where the second cohort of teachers are to write their promotion exams.”
The Teacher Unions made it clear that GES has not issued them any official notice in relation to the subject matter.
“To make matters worse, no official communique has been issued by the GES on the delay in releasing the March 2023 promotion results.”
Further, it was stated that “The delay has aggravated the backlog that we all sort to clear and it has further added to the woes of the teacher, thereby defeating the intention of writing the promotion exams.”
The Unions insisted on writing the Second set of the examination stating “We, therefore, insist that the second set of the promotion examination should be written and the results released before 31st December, 2023.”
They also called for the release of the GES Promotion Results immediately.
“By this, we call for the immediate release of the March 2023 examination results by Friday, 25th August 2023 or else, we have no other option than to advise ourselves.”
