The Energy Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has rubished the widely circulated claims that, the current power outages being experienced in the Country is Dumsor.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh said, the situation is not a generation problem, neither it is about fuel. He is very worried why people are calling the current maintenance at the Sector as Dumsor.

According to the Minister, everyone should be truthful in his/her communications regarding the power flatuation in the Energy Sector.

Comparing the power outage to the previous government lead by former President John Dramani Mahama, he said, in 2016, they [NDC government] gave us periods when we were off and on. 2016, the government of the day told us it was a generation problem. This is not a generation problem. This is not about fuel, so how can it be dumsor? He quizzed.

In a press briefing, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh again said, the current challenges are not due to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s government owing any entity, and that they has put in place mechanisms where every generator, transmitter and distributor of electricity is paid something regularly.

He has reassured Ghanaians that, the technical experts are working assiduosly to resolve technical issues leading to frequent power outages in the energy sector.
