The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo together with his government officials visited the family of the late former president Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings at his Ridge Residence in Accra.

After consoling the widow, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the children and family of former President Rawlings during a condolence visit on Friday, 13th November, 2020, the President has signed the book of condolence in honour of the late former president.

“Your role in the establishment and development of the 4th Republic, the most enduring Republic of our history, is truely exceptional. Ghanaians appreciate your leadership of our nation, and will remember you accordingly. For myself, I appreciate very much your friendship. Commandant, Fair well and rest peacefully in the bosom of the Almighty.”

In addressing the family of the late former president, Nana Addo said, he found it so difficult to believe that the dynamic and energetic personality full of vitality that he knew, had gone to meet his maker.

The Founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings died on Thursday, 12th November, 2020 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness. The former president died at age 73.
