Two Galamsey miners arrested in Eastern Region

Some two (2) illegal miners have been apprehended and are currently in the police custody together with 15 chanfang been destroyed. This incident happened in the Eastern region.

These illegal miners were apprehended by the anti-Galamsey task forces which was formed by the Akyemansa District. This task force are responsible for monitoring and apprehending people who are into illegal mining.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) Honorable Paul Asamoah gave the reason behind the task force. It has been more than six years where so many measure were put in place to stop these activities but there is no head ways. Hence, they decided to form the task force to fight such activities and also help bring the government’s wish into reality.


During the arrest, the task force sized some equipment that they found at the site. These equipment included water pumping machines and dredging. Mr. Asamoah concluded that, the community should be at peace because the task force wouldn’t sleep nor slumber during these year Christmas and new year festive.
