Two young men have been arrested by the Ghana Police as suspects for an armed robbery incident which occurred in the Upper Amenfi Rural Bank in Wassa Akropong in June this year.
The Upper Amenfi Rural Bank is located at Jukwa, Â a town near Wassa Akropong in the Western Region and the said attack took place on June 27, 2022.
The two young suspects are Tahiru Issaka also known as Red and Yahuza Mohammed.
They were arrested by the Police in two different suburbs of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on 25th August 2022.
The suspects were led to assist with Police investigations after their arrest and have identified a third person who was shot and killed during the operation as the leader of their gang by name Gafar Ziyech Abdul popularly known as Stone.
According to reports, these suspects and three other accomplices attacked the bank on the night of 27th June 2022.
The suspects hit the bank and managed to disarm the security guard on duty whilst two other staff were physically assaulted in their attempt to take off with the stolen money.
When the police began to trail them from the robbery scene, the robbers set their vehicle on fire in an attempt to distract the security personnels.
The Ghana Police however did not give up investigations and have finally gotten hold of these suspects in their hideouts in Ashanti Region.
