The University of Cape Coast (UCC) 2023/2024 Academic year calendar has been made available for your perusal.
Below is the detail of the calendar for the 2023/2024 academic year outlining the important dates and events for both Level 100 and continuing students.
FIRST SEMESTER
The academic year begins with the first semester, which encompasses several crucial assessments and activities. Level 100 students are scheduled to undertake their First Continuous Assessment (CA) from Monday, 12th February 2024, to Friday, 16th February 2024. This assessment serves as an early evaluation of their progress and understanding of the course material.
Continuing students, on the other hand, have their Second Continuous Assessment (CA) scheduled from Monday, 19th February 2024, to Friday, 23rd February 2024. This assessment provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills acquired throughout the semester.
Following this, Level 100 students have their Second Continuous Assessment (CA) from Monday, 11th March 2024, to Friday, 15th March 2024. This assessment aims to further gauge their understanding and mastery of the subject matter.
The results of the Continuous Assessments, for both continuing and Level 100 students, will be displayed from Monday, 25th March 2024, to Friday, 29th March 2024. This allows students to review their performance and identify areas for improvement before the semester comes to a close. Lectures for the semester will conclude on Friday, 22nd March, 2024.
A revision period and Easter break follow, beginning on Monday, 25th March 2024, and concluding on Tuesday, 2nd April 2024. This break provides students with an opportunity to consolidate their knowledge and prepare for the upcoming semester exams.

The first semester culminates with the Semester Exams, scheduled to take place from Wednesday, 3rd April 2024, to Friday, 19th April 2024. These exams assess students’ overall understanding of the course material and determine their academic progress.
INTER-SEMESTER BREAK
Following the conclusion of the first semester, students will go on break starting on Saturday, 20th April 2024. This inter-semester break provides an opportunity for students to relax and recharge before the commencement of the next semester. The break lasts until Friday, 3rd May, 2024.
MARKING AND GRADING
During the inter-semester break, faculty members will undertake the important task of marking and grading the examination scripts. This process will begin on Saturday, 20th April 2024, and conclude on Saturday, 11th May 2024. It ensures fairness and accuracy in evaluating students’ performance.
RELEASE OF ACADEMIC RESULTS
After the completion of the marking and grading process, the results of the semester exams will be released. Students can expect to receive their examination results from Monday, 13th May 2024, to Friday, 17th May 2024. These results provide students with valuable feedback on their performance and serve as a basis for their academic progression.
TEACHING WEEKS
For continuing students, the academic year comprises 12 teaching weeks. These weeks are dedicated to lectures, tutorials, and other educational activities that facilitate the learning process.

Level 100 students, on the other hand, have 10 teaching weeks in their academic year. This slightly shorter duration is designed to accommodate the transition and adjustment period for new students.
